TRAVELLERS moved on to land near the Porsche garage in Portsmouth last night.

Around 10 caravans and a number of cars got on to the site off Western Road.

Security guards at nearby 1000 Lakeside in North Harbour were alerted in case the travellers decided to try moving in.

A guard was sent to the front gates to block anyone coming in unless they were working at the business park.

Hampshire Constabulary sent three vans and two cars to monitor the situation before sending the group on its way.

It was not known where the group moved to.

The force’s control room told The News last night that no-one was available for comment.

As previously reported in The News, access to the Lakeside site was restricted last month after travellers tried getting in via Western Way.

They ended up moving to a lay-by along the same road.
