THIEVES have left an elderly woman heartbroken after they stole a haul of jewellery of great sentimental value.

The burglary, at a house in St Francis Place, Havant, took place between 3.30pm and 8pm on Sunday, January 6.

Thieves stole a pair of white pearl earrings, a white pearl bracelet, a white pearl necklace and a pearl necklace with pearls in four varied colours.

They also took a silver necklace with a cross, a gold engagement ring with six or seven diamonds and a black iPad from the 77-year-old.

Detective Constable Kate Smithers, from Havant police, said: ‘The elderly victim has been left devastated due to the loss of many treasured possessions.

‘I would ask anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of these items to come forward.

‘I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you to check that your homes have been left secure when you are going out. Make sure you lock all doors and windows and consider using a timer switch to turn lights on if you will not be returning until after dark.’

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
