Trial date set for city stabbing accused

A 42-YEAR-OLD man has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of a woman who was stabbed in the back in a busy shopping street.

Dler Mohammed, of no fixed address, spoke through an interpreter to enter his plea at Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday.

The charge relates to an attack on a 35-year-old woman in London Road, North End, Portsmouth, on Saturday, July 9.

The defendant, wearing a grey tracksuit, was remanded in custody until his trial.

Judge Sarah Munro QC told him: ‘I am going to adjourn your case for trial and your trial will take place at this court on January 9 next year.’
