A MAN has been charged with murdering his 78-year-old mum.

Neale James, of Vinetrow Road, Chichester is alleged to have killed Brenda James.

The 50-year-old was arrested on suspicion or murder after Mrs James – who lived at Lakeside Caravan Park in Chichester – was reported missing on Tuesday.

Specialist police officers found her body on the Goodwood estate near Chichester on Thursday following a painstaking search of woodland, sparked after the police received information.

A post mortem carried out yesterday afternoon revealed that grandmother Mrs James died from a head injury caused by a weapon.

Mr Neale was last night charged with her murder.

He was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Worthing Magistrates Court this morning.

Mrs James’ daughter, Nicole James said: ‘we know mum will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was extremely popular locally, with a wide circle of friends who she met with regularly to play bridge and enjoy other hobbies.’
