A THIEF was chased along a busy shopping street after stealing two phones and a bag from a store and cycling off.

The drama happened after a walk-in raid at the Tai Yi store in Stoke Road, Gosport.

Receptionist Liping Pan had just gone to the back of the store when a man walked into the shop, opened a cupboard and took the bag and two mobile phones.

Liping, 47, gave chase with the store owner after the burglar struck.

The pair were joined by a young man who managed to get a phone and the bag back.

Liping told The News: ‘I was washing my hands and heard a noise – the opening and closing of the cupboard.

‘I chased him. Afterwards a young man came and ran to catch him and they got my handbag and one of the mobile phones.’

She praised the man for helping her out.

A phone was found shortly after the theft at 1.20pm on Wednesday. The man made off in the direction of Elmshurst Road.

He is white, 5ft 10in, stocky, in his 20s with short brown hair and stubble.

He was wearing a grey jacket, dark coloured tracksuit bottoms. He was carrying a large dark bag on handlebars of a woman’s turquoise bike.
