TRUCK driver Robert Connor has been fined after he crashed into a bridge.

The 72-year-old crashed the 7.5 ton Leyland Daf truck into an bridge on Alec Rose Lane in Southsea.

Instead of reporting the accident he drove off.

Connor, of Horse Sands Close, Southsea, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and failing to report an accident when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

He also admitted failing to use a record sheet and an offence related to the vehicles tachograph being out of date.

The accident happened back in May.

Connor was fined £175 and told to pay court costs of £50.

Five penalty points were added to his licence.
