TWELVE people were arrested following a fight at Butlins holiday park.
Six people – including four workers – were taken to hospital after the row broke out when a group of people were kicked out of a nightclub at the Bognor Regis resort.
A local man in his 50s was described by police as being ‘stable’ in hospital after being hurt during the brawl at about 12.20am on Saturday.
One man in his 20s was taken to hospital with a chest injury. Two men from Gravesend, Kent, were taken to hospital with facial injuries – but were later arrested. They are a 25-year-old man who was quizzed on suspicion of violent disorder and a 32-year-old questioned on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and violent disorder. Both men were later bailed.
Chief Inspector Jane Derrick said: ‘We believe a fight broke out after a group of people, who were at the resort together, were ejected from a nightclub on the site.
‘As a result, six people were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries. Four of these people were staff at the resort.
‘The other two people were a member of the group who were also arrested. We do not believe any of the other guests at Butlins were involved in the incident.
‘We are still trying to piece together exactly what happened and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the fight. We believe that some of those who witnessed the incident are no longer in the Bognor Regis area and we would encourage them to contact police.’
Police also arrested six Gravesend men, aged 26, 27, 27, and 33, 28, and 26, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and violent disorder.
A further four men from Gravesend, aged 28, 27, 26 and 37 were quizzed on suspicion of violent disorder.
All were released on bail pending further inquiries.
