POLICE arrested two women after a report of a purse theft.

A woman in her 80s was walking with a friend when she was approached by two women who asked for directions.

The woman’s friend noticed that as they were talking one of the women removed her friend’s purse from her handbag.

The incident happened on Wednesday, September 21 at around 2.50pm in an alleyway between Wootton Street and Northern Road in Cosham.

A 19-year-old woman and a 40-year-old woman from the West Midlands have been arrested on suspicion of theft. Both have been bailed pending further inquiries until Wednesday, November 2.
