British Transport Police have cautioned two men for railway trespass after CCTV caught one of them sprawled over tracks at a Hampshire station.

The men were arrested hours after British Transport Police (BTP) released CCTV footage as part of a public appeal after the incident at Wooloston station in Southampton on August 2.

A 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both from Portswood, Southampton, answered bail on Friday, 4 September, and accepted police cautions for railway trespass. They were arrested on Thursday, 27 August, after coming forward following the public appeal.

Inspector Sarah White said: “We would like to thank the members of the public who came forward with valuable information, which greatly assisted our investigation.

Insp White added: ”Our message to the public is clear; stay off the tracks. The railway line is a dangerous environment with passing trains and electrified rails presenting real dangers.”
