Two people are under arrest after police raided three homes in Portsmouth today in search of drug dealers.

Detectives executed warrants at houses in Campbell Road and Festing Road in Southsea and at Hillsley Road Paulsgrove, just before 7am.

A Hampshire Police spokeswoman said: ‘Substances believed to be Class A drugs were seized from one address and have been sent for analysis.Two people were arrested and are currently being held in custody for questioning.’

Police said a 29-year-old woman from America had been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and, at a separate address, a 33-year-old man from Portsmouth had been arrested under the Proceeds of Crime Act and a quantity of cash was seized. At a third address a 22-year-old man was given a warning for possession of cannabis.

Detective Sergeant Gary Cable from Fratton CID said: ‘The supply of illegal drugs will not be tolerated in Portsmouth. Today’s operation demonstrates our determination to disrupt such activity and to act on intelligence received from members of the public about people dealing on our streets.

‘Officers from our Safer Neighbourhoods team will continue to patrol the area to provide reassurance to the communities affected by this operation.’
