TWO men were arrested by police after a gay couple reported homophobic abuse.

Verbal abuse was reported in Barncroft Way, in Leigh Park, last night.

Two men, aged in their 30s and from Havant, were arrested at 9pm last night on suspicion of using threatening words or behaviour to cause fear of violence.

Duncan Smith, a spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary, said: ‘They remain in police custody for questioning. Verbal abuse towards two men in a same sex relationship was reported.’
