Two people arrested over attempted murder after Gosport baby rushed to hospital

A MAN and woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a two-week-old baby was injured.

The little boy is currently in a ‘serious condition’ in Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, police said.

Detectives have launched an attempted murder probe after the baby was rushed to QA Hospital on Tuesday.

The two-week old was taken to the hospital from an address in Forton Road, Gosport.

Hampshire police said a man and woman, both in their 20s, have been arrested and bailed.

A police spokeswoman said: ‘Specialist officers are conducting enquiries after a two-week-old baby was taken to QA hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

‘The infant remains in hospital, his condition is described as serious.

‘Officers are trying to establish how the child was injured.

‘A man and a woman aged in their twenties have been arrested as part of this investigation and have been bailed until late September.’
