TWO candidates to be Hampshire police’s chief constable have made it to the short list.

Hampshire’s police and crime commissioner Simon Hayes has drawn up the list after five people applied.

Around 30 people, including PCSOs, charities and police officers have helped to select the candidates.

Interviews will be carried out on February 24 and 25.

Mr Hayes said: ‘On February 25 I would hope and expect to announce who is the preferred candidate.’

The preferred candidate will then go to the police and crime panel for agreement or otherwise by councillors.
