DETECTIVES have said two sex attacks in Portsmouth on the same night may be linked.

In the first assault a 19-year-old woman was having a cigarette in Melbourne Place off Middle Street in Portsmouth when a man came up to her and sexually assaulted her over her clothes before running off.

The second attack happened nearby in Lord Montgomery Way.

A 20-year-old woman was approached by a man who pulled at her clothing and sexually assaulted her.

The first attack happened between 11pm and 11.30pm on Saturday while the second happened at about 11.35pm.

The man is white, bald and slim, and aged between 30 and 50.

One victim said the man wore a v-neck woollen jumper with a bird logo on it.

The other said he wore a black hooded top.
