TWO men arrested on suspicion of poaching after a series of dawn raids across Hampshire have been bailed.

A 48-year-old Havant man and a 28-year-old Southampton man were quizzed by police following raids at addresses in Petersfield, Southampton and Havant early on Wednesday morning.

They were later bailed until June 29. Some equipment believed to have been used for hunting was also seized for forensic testing.

Warrants were executed at the three properties as part of a joint operation involving the RSPCA, Sussex and Wiltshire Police and officers from Hampshire Constabulary’s Country Watch, Safer Neighbourhoods and Specialist Operations teams.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about rural crime to contact Hampshire Constabulary’s Country Watch teams on 101 or 0845 0454545.
