A LORRY containing 28 illegal immigrants has been seized in Portsmouth.

Police pulled over a heavy goods vehicle in Walton Road, Drayton, earlier today before discovering there were immigrant families packed in the back.

Hampshire’s roads policing unit tweeted that a ‘multi-agency response’ is underway following the incident.

Ambulance crews were at the scene checking over people to ensure they’re not harmed.

A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service said: ‘We got a call at 9.45am this morning to attend Walton Road.

‘We sent an ambulance officer, our hazard area response team and two ambulance crews, and they were assisting 28 people.
