POLICE are renewing their appeal for witnesses after a man hurled racial abuse at a couple in their car.

A 32-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman of Asian origin were driving out of Port Solent along the Port Way when the driver of a white van pulled up behind their blue Fiat Multipla.

He undertook them, and then shouted abuse while he drove in front of the Fiat.

He was white, in his 30s, bald and of medium build, and his white Ford Transit van had a licence plate featuring L3 MCO. The incident happened at 2.30pm on Thursday, June 16.

A Hampshire police spokesman said: ‘The couple were shaken and scared by the threat and we want to bring whoever was responsible to justice to demonstrate such behaviour is never tolerated in Portsmouth.’

A 33-year-old man was arrested and is on bail.
