NINE vehicles have been targeted during a 12-hour crime spree.

Police are warning residents on Hayling Island to lock their cars and hide valuables in the wake of the crimewave.

Areas hit include Haslemere Gardens, Silver Sands Gardens, Itchenor Road, Rails Lane, Bracklesham Road, Sea Front Estate and Harold Road. The crimes happened overnight on November 16 and 17. PCSO Callum Younger said: ‘Nine vehicles were found to be tampered with or had items stolen from them overnight after they had been left unlocked.’

The warning comes a day after officers urged vehicle owners in Portsmouth to be wary following a similar spate of crimes in the north of the city.
