Police are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Portsmouth.

The incident occurred between 7.38 and 7.48pm on Monday July 30 in the underpass between Commercial Road and Lake Road.

The victim, a 31-year-old man from Southsea, was walking through the underpass when he was approached by a man demanding money. The victim ran off but was chased by the suspect who caught up with him and held him against a wall repeating his demands.

The victim managed to break free and ran to a nearby pub for help.

Detective Constable Daisy Sharma from Portsmouth Criminal Investigation team said: ‘I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward.

‘I am particularly keen to speak to a man of mixed race who was also in the underpass at the time.’
