DEVASTATED DJ Chris Vaux is appealing to thieves who stole a hard drive from his van to give it back.
The device not only contains a lifetime of music, but pictures of his son.
It also had photographs of one of his best friends and fellow DJ Matt Berry, 34, who died two years ago.
The pair had known each other for 10 years and Chris described him as a brother.
Chris, of Fifth Avenue, Fratton, said: ‘Matt was my best friend and more like a brother really.
‘Of course I have memories of him in my head, but I had pictures and conversations I had with him saved on that hard drive.
I’m feeling pretty empty and numb at this theft and really want it returned to meChris Vaux, 35
‘A lot of that is irreplaceable and will be of little value to anyone else.
‘I’m feeling pretty empty and numb at this theft and really want it returned to me.’
Alongside the hard drive, headphones and a Traktor S4 DJ controller were stolen.
All three items were in a bag that was taken from Chris’s white VW Transporter van between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
He added: ‘We had celebrated my son Dexter’s first birthday on Sunday and I decided to take my hard drive so I could play music there.
‘It was silly, but I left it in the car on Monday night.
‘On Tuesday morning when I went to my van I could see someone had tried to jemmy it open.
‘When I looked in I saw the stereo wasn’t taken and there was other equipment.
‘But then I noticed the bag with my hard drive had gone.
‘As well as my memories of Matt, it also has pictures of my son and 20 years worth of music.
‘I can recover most of that, but the pictures and conversations I can’t and just really want them back.’
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘We are investigating the theft of a black Gator bag containing DJ equipment from a VW Transporter van.
‘Anyone with information should call 101 quoting ref: 44150346552.’
