THIS is the alleyway where a masked man was hiding before he leapt out and grabbed a 13-year-old schoolgirl.
Today the police inspector in charge of the case has been stood outside the scene of the attack, which happened in Ophir Road, North End, at around 8.20am yesterday.
A man wearing a balaclava jumped out and grabbed the back of the Mayfield School pupil’s blazer before placing his hand over her mouth during the terrifying attack.
The victim managed to run free and get to a friend’s parent to call for help.
Residents have spoken about their shock following the attack.
Detective constable Matt Gamblen has been at the scene of the attack and has been asking people if they saw anything unusual the day before.

DC Gamblen said: ‘We are here to show a public presence and reassure members of the public.
‘We have also been asking people questions who are on their normal route near where the incident happened to see if they saw anything unusual.
‘A man wearing a balaclava in broad daylight is not something you see often so we’re hoping there will be someone that saw something.
‘This is backing up the house-to-house inquiries we have been carrying out.
‘There has also been a police presence in various locations around Mayfield School.
‘I would urge anybody who saw anything or has information to come forward and talk to us.’
The attacker was white, tanned, in his late 30s or early 40s, about 6ft and stocky with dark brown eyes and ‘chapped’ lips.
He wore a black Nike tracksuit with a white ‘swoosh’ logo with a white T-shirt underneath; black gloves; a balaclava and white and black leather Adidas trainers.
