Harry Avis, 20, told police that he isn't hiding '“ they are just not looking hard enough. But officers hit back saying they think their £1,000 reward for information on his whereabouts will work wonders.

The post, on Sussex police's Facebook page, reads: '˜If you have spotted wanted Brighton man Harry Avis out and about, we would love to hear from you and as an added bonus you could earn yourself up to £1,000, as we are offering a reward for information leading to his arrest.

'˜Dial 999 if you see him.'

Avis, who is from Brighton and is wanted on recall to prison after breaching the terms of his licence, commented: '˜I'm not hiding! You just ain't looking good enough.'

Police then responded and said: '˜Hi Harry. So good to hear from you. Hope you are well. We're good at hide and seek. We've played this game before. Fear not, we have the eyes and ears of our lovely Facebook followers who I'm sure will step in to help us.'

Avis write back and said: '˜Don't look like they will or you would have me in your custody wouldn't you'.

Police told Harry over Facebook the force thinks the incentive will work a treat and that officers will wait patiently for it to pay off telling him: '˜See you soon'.
