TWO house burglaries committed at neighbouring properties on the same night are being linked by police.

Crooks got into each of the homes in New Road, Fareham, via insecure doors.

Detectives say a laptop and purse were stolen from one address and an iPad 2 and purse were taken from the other.

Now police are reminding householders to ensure their doors and windows are kept locked in a bid to deter thieves.

Officers are also appealing for anyone who lives in New Road and who may have their own CCTV system to contact police as soon as possible.

Detective Constable Chris Davies from Fareham CID said: ‘I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed someone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the burglaries.

‘I’d also like to hear from anyone who lives near to New Road and has their own CCTV which may provide footage of the offender.

‘It is important to check you have locked doors and windows before you go to bed and if you have a UPVC door with a multi-point lock, ensure you lift the handle and lock it with the key.’

The burglaries happened between 9.30pm on September 18 and 7am the following morning.

Details have just been released by police.
