PARENTS have been warned to be extra vigilant after a group of adults were acting suspiciously near a school.

Hampshire Constabulary said they were called to Baffins Pond in Portsmouth after someone raised concerns about the behaviour of a group of adults around children.

The adults acting suspiciously eventually moved on after a short time. Police carried out a search of the scene but found no trace of the group shortly before 3pm on Saturday, June 6.

A spokesman said last night no offences had been committed. There had been speculation that the adults attempted to abduct a child but Hampshire police said there was no information to suggest this is true.

Parents of pupils at Westover Primary School in Copnor were warned about the incident in a newsletter.

Hampshire police asked members of the public to remain alert and report anything suspicious or concerning by calling 101, or 999 if it’s an emergency.
