A MAN has appeared in court charged with murder.

Sean Bailey, 28, of Robin Gardens, Wecock, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates Court charged with the murder of 27-year-old Simon Warton.

Mr Warton, of Orsmond Close, Waterlooville, was found with a stab wound in Dove Close, Wecock, at around 5.15am last Thursday. He later died in hospital.

Bailey was arrested by police at 10pm on Saturday at a flat in Havant.

After two days of questioning, Bailey was charged with murder last night.

Wearing a jumper and trousers, Bailey appeared calm as he confirmed his name and address to the three magistrates.

His family were in court to witness proceedings.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Winchester Crown Court tomorrow for a bail application.

There will be a preliminary hearing at Winchester Crown Court on May 1.
