THIS WEEK IN 1986: Female factory trio '˜unfairly' demoted

Three supervisors were stunned when they were asked to return to the production line at Portsmouth bra factory Kayser South where they worked, a Southampton Industrial Tribunal heard.

Union official Mel Roberts said the trio were left with no alternative but to leave the company.

Mr Roberts, representing the women, said: ‘No real reason was given at that time or has been since.’

The women claimed they were constructively and unfairly dismissed.
