SHOPLIFTER James Gardner has been given a conditional discharge.

Gardner, 28, of The Square, Wickham, admitted stealing goods worth £4.59 from the Co-op in the same street.

He pleaded guilty to committing the theft while already subject to a conditional discharge and failing to surrender to custody. Fareham magistrates gave Gardner a 12-month conditional discharge.
