A 22-YEAR-OLD man found with head and facial injuries is thought to have been involved in a late-night brawl.

The victim, from the Petersfield area, was found in Commercial Road, Landport, Portsmouth, outside Ken’s Fried Chicken, shortly before 3.30am on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and is now recovering at home.

Detectives say they received reports of a fight involving a group of men in the area.

However no crime has been formally reported and it is unclear how the man was hurt.

Detective Inspector Christopher Parry of Portsmouth CID said: ‘The exact circumstances surrounding how this man was injured remain unclear.

‘A group of men were seen by police officers when they arrived at the scene, but no formal allegations of a crime have been made so far.

‘However, we believe a fight and an assault has taken place, possibly linked to people leaving bars and clubs nearby in the Commercial Road area.

‘Therefore, I am appealing for independent witnesses to come forward with any information about a fight or assault they may have seen in the area between 3am and 3.30am on Sunday.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact CID at Fratton police station on 101.
