A YOUNG woman was glassed in the face in an unprovoked attack at a city nightclub.

The assault in Tiger Tiger Portsmouth, in Gunwharf Quays, happened between 12.10am and 12.20am on Sunday.

The victim was standing with friends inside when she was nudged from behind.

A glass was then smashed into her face by an unknown woman and she was left with cuts to her face and neck which required about 18 stitches. Police are now on the hunt for her attacker.

The female suspect is white, slim, about 25 and 5ft 6in tall and has long, black hair.

Det Con Jackie Foley said: ‘The assault on the 21-year-old victim was serious and unprovoked. This was a busy nightclub and I’d urge anyone who saw what happened to contact us.’

A spokeswoman for Tiger Tiger Portsmouth claimed a customer had been injured by a plastic cup.

‘The safety of all our customers is of primary importance to us, and we are working closely with the police to help investigate the matter,’ she said.
