A SHOPLIFTER has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Claire Castle pleaded guilty to stealing a TV worth £177 and DVD player worth £57 from Asda at Speedfields Park, Fareham, on October 1.

The 27-year-old, from Brewers Lane, Gosport, also admitted failing to answer bail at the appointed time at Fareham Magistrates’ Court.

Castle was sentenced to three weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months for both offences.

She was also ordered to take part in a programme called Pathways to Change for eight days in the next year. And Castle must attend appointments with probation when told to as part a supervision requirement attached to her sentence.

No order for costs or compensation was made.
