A woman was subjected to a sexual attack as she walked along a Havant street.

Police are linking the assault to an incident minutes earlier in which another woman was verbally abused.

Hampshire Constabulary today appealed for witnesses as they revealed details of the assaults, which happened on Bank Holiday Monday.

Police said that the incidents happened between 10.50 and 11.10am on May 5. Both women were assaulted whilst walking along Dunsbury Way in Havant.

In the first assault a man verbally abused a woman. A male passer by, who was wearing a white t-shirt and shorts, intervened and helped the woman.

Police say they would like to speak to this passer by.

Ten minutes later another woman was indecently assaulted by a man as she walked along the same street. A woman driving by spoke to the victim. This woman was driving a small, silver car.

Police say they want to speak to this vital witness.

PC Graham Skull who is investigating said: “We’d urgently like to speak to these two good samaritans who stepped in and intervened.

“We’d like to reassure the local community that whilst these assaults are concerning, they appear to be isolated incidents.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Skull by phoning 101. Mini-com users can phone 18001 101.
