A BENEFIT fraudster has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Margaret Ballard claimed incapacity benefit for more than two years - despite having a job.

The 41-year-old, from Brewers Lane, Bridgemary, Gosport, pleaded guilty to failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions of a change in her circumstances between February 2007 and November 2009 at Fareham Magistrates’ Court.

Ballard was sentenced to one month in jail, suspended for a year. She was also ordered to pay £100.
