POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 52-year-old woman was assaulted in Copnor.

Between 3.10pm and 3.20pm on February 7, the 52-year-old victim was cycling with her son along Copnor Road, near to the junction with New Road, when they came across a man and a woman who were walking together.

The woman reportedly became aggressive before assaulting the victim, leaving her with injuries to her face. The man she was with did not take part in the assault.

The woman is described as white, aged around 30 years, 5ft 8ins tall, with shoulder-length dark brown hair. She was described as wearing a brown coat.

The man was described as white, older and taller than the woman, with mid-length hair that was flecked with grey.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or can help us identify the man and the woman so we can speak to them about the assault.

PC Amy Bianchini said: ‘This was an unprovoked attack on a woman who was out cycling with her son.

‘We are keen to identify the woman responsible, and the man she was with, as part of our investigation.

‘This took place close to the end of the school day, so the area was relatively busy with cars passing through.

‘If you saw anything or have any information at all, please call us.’
