A WOMAN was punched after being set upon by two robbers in broad daylight.

The 25-year-old victim was walking along Goldsmith Avenue towards Fratton train station when she was approached by the men near the Shell petrol station.

One of them punched her and she fell to the ground, dropping her mobile phone.

The other man picked it up and they walked off at about 2.40pm on Tuesday.

An elderly man helped the victim to her feet. She was not seriously injured but shaken by the incident.

Detective Constable Craig Turner said: ‘The victim is understandably very upset and shaken following this incident which occurred on a road busy with motorists and pedestrians.

‘We’re keen to speak to any witnesses with information and in particular the kindly elderly gentleman who came to the victim’s aid.’

The first suspect is a mixed race man, 6ft 2in, of a medium build, with a shaved head and a distinctive tattoo on his face, He wore a black padded jacket and dark blue jeans.

The second man is white, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5ft 6in, of a medium build, with short, spiky hair.

He wore a beige leather jacket and a fluorescent lightweight jacket with a blue hood covering his head.
