A SPATE of thefts in supermarket car parks has sparked a police warning.

Simon Smith, from Havant police, said: ‘We are having a few reports of single females being targeted in car parks across Hampshire while returning trolleys, leaving their handbags in the vehicles, and not locking the doors.

‘They are then approached by males asking for directions and distracting them while another male enters the vehicles to steal the handbags.’

Report suspicious activity on 101.
