A YOB who smashed the window of a hairdressers, causing £1,600 of damage, has been told to pay compensation.

Danny Lane wrecked the front of Top Notch Hairdressers, in Milton Road, Cowplain.

He initially denied the offence but owned up before the start of his trial.

The unemployed 20-year-old, of Bernina Avenue, Waterlooville, pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

He was told to carry out 50 hours of unpaid work in the next year and pay £300 to the owner and £300 in court costs.
