CUSTOMERS at a superstore donated over £1,000 to a local charity.

People shopping at Morrison’s, in Gosport, gave a record amount to the Gosport and Fareham branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society during a store collection.

A total of £1,071 was collected which is the largest amount collected in a local store collection.

The founder secretary of the branch Juliette Hewitt said: ‘We are very grateful for this huge amount which was donated.

‘The branch was formed 33 years ago and it now costs more than £30,000 each year to provide the services for people with multiple sclerosis.

‘We provide regular neuro-physio classes, yoga, craft groups together with grants for essential equipment and respite care.’
