A CYCLIST was left with serious head injuries after colliding with a car in Havant.

The accident happened at the New Road roundabout close to the Civic Centre in Havant at around 8.15pm on Saturday.

A silver Toyota Auris travelling east on New Road was involved in a collision with the 61-year-old cyclist at the roundabout.

The cyclist, a local man, was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to serious head injuries where he remains.

The car driver, a 50-year-old woman, from Havant was uninjured.

The road was closed for three hours to allow a full investigation of the scene.
