A CYCLIST has serious shoulder injuries after he was involved in a crash with a van.

A white Transit or flatbed-type van was going along Portsdown Hill Road, Purbrook, towards Fareham, when the driver collided with the 45-year-old cyclist while overtaking him, knocking him off the bike, at around 7.30am yesterday.

The cyclist, who is from the Portsmouth area, was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, to treat a serious shoulder injury.

It is thought the van driver may have been unaware of the cyclist and therefore the incident.

Hampshire Constabulary would like to speak to the van driver and anyone else who saw what happened.

Anyone with information should call PC James Chapman at Havant police station on 101, quoting 44140447181, or alternatively call charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
