D-Day Museum opens for free to mark Holocaust Memorial Day

VISITORS to a museum were able to learn about the Holocaust thanks to an exhibition.

The D-Day Museum, in Southsea, was open for free yesterday to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

The attraction had posters up explaining the horrors of the Holocaust and the impact it had during the Second World War. Families visiting the museum said they thought it was good it was marking the important day.

Steve Webb visited with his wife Natalie and son Ben.

He said: ‘I think it is really important that we remember the Holocaust and make sure it isn’t forgotten.’

Natalie added: ‘People do need to learn about what happened so it is good that the D-Day Museum is supporting that.’

The museum will also have free entry on Wednesday which is Holocaust Memorial Day. A short service will also be taking place outside the museum at 12pm.

Another service was also taking place in Havant where. Walter Kammerling, a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust, was at the remembrance service at 11am at Havant cemetery.
