Dad, from Fareham, is dedicated to fundraising for centre

He has not even completed his latest charity event, yet driving instructor Steve Bonnick is already looking ahead to his next one.

The caring dad is this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winner for the fundraising he does on behalf of The Rainbow Centre in Fareham.

Steve will be completing a skydive in May to raise cash for the centre, which helps his son Charlie who has cerebral palsy.

But with weeks still to go until the fundraiser, Steve is thinking of the next challenge he can do to raise money.

He says: ‘For our next charity event, I am looking to set up a wing walk.

‘We thought ‘‘how could we top jumping out a plane? Why not walk on top of one?’’.’

Steve, from Fareham, has donated a lot of money to The Rainbow Centre which helps children with cerebral palsy as well as adults with Parkinson’s or who have suffered a stroke or head injury.

Last year he did an abseil down the Spinnaker Tower with colleagues, raising £6,500.

On the skydive in May, Steve adds: ‘We’re actually jumping from 15,000ft instead of 10,000 which is the usual height when skydiving.

‘If we’re throwing ourselves out a plane, then why not go a bit further?

‘This is important to me because of Charlie and how much the centre helps him.’
