21 best photos as Royal Navy carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth leaves Portsmouth for training

AFTER a couple of delays, HMS Queen Elizabeth finally left Portsmouth for her latest round of training.

The Royal Navy’s future flagship departed from her home at the naval base on Wednesday afternoon.

She was initially due to leave on Monday, however a Covid-19 outbreak among her crew pushed it back two days.

Hundreds of people lined the harbour walls in Old Portsmouth to give the carrier a proper send off.

HMS Queen Elizabeth is continuing the preparations for her maiden operational mission in 2021.

She will return to Portsmouth next week to take on stores before departing again.
