A CONTRACT worth £257m has been awarded to BAE Systems.

The money will cover the final design work for the successor to the Royal Navy’s Vanguard-class submarines.

The money will mostly be spent in Cumbria but a spokeswoman from BAE Systems said the cash could filter down to people working in Portsmouth.
