A PETITION calling on the UK government to do more to find a missing Gosport sailor in Dubai has attracted almost 4,000 signatures.

Outraged relatives and friends of Timmy MacColl, as well as supporters of the huge online campaign to find the 27-year-old, have put pressure on the Foreign Office and Royal Navy to take more of a leading role in the investigation.

The petition, started by the grandfather of Timmy’s pregnant wife, Rachael, says: ‘There has been little communication between the two police forces and the family.

‘The family desperately need to know that all resources have been employed in the search for Timmy, who is a member of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.’

Dad-of-two Timmy vanished in Dubai on May 27 during a break from Gulf patrols with HMS Westminster.

The navy and FCO say local police must take the lead.
