ONE of the biggest naval charities has a new leader.

Vice-Admiral Sir Charles Montgomery has taken over as the president of the Portsmouth-based Royal Navy Benevolent Trust (RNBT).

Sir Charles enjoyed a distinguished career in the navy, serving as the Second Sea Lord.

He left the service earlier this year to take up the post of the new director general of the UK’s Border Force.

Sir Charles took over the RNBT at a ceremony on board HMS Victory.
