AI being considered by UK government to control nation's borders

ARTIFICIAL intelligence tech is being considered by the government to help run key border control points like Portsmouth.

Penny Mordaunt, Portsmouth North MP, said the cabinet office was looking at the plan as part of its 2025 border strategy.

‘This set out the government’s intention to create a highly digitised and automated border,’ she said. ‘As part of this approach, we will explore the potential to use artificial intelligence at the border. We will respond to the consultation in due course.

The tech could be used at main internationally crossing points like Portsmouth and Dover, as well as major airports like Gatwick.
