THE head of an armed forces support charity has met with the Shadow Secretary of State for Defence.

Bill McCance, chief executive of Forces Support, based at Trafalgar House in Southampton Road, Portsmouth, met with Labour MP Vernon Coaker.

The charity works with bereaved military families, helping them in the home or garden.

Mr McCance said: ‘We already have a waiting list of at least 50 bereaved families.

‘We really want to help them all but are our resources are extremely limited.

‘Therefore we need help from the government, business and the public to enable us to give something back to the families of those who gave everything.’
