SAILORS have raised cash for Help for Heroes in the name of a veteran’s wife.

The men and women of HMS Sultan, in Gosport, raised more than £100 at a coffee morning in memory of Maureen Faulkner, the wife of former establishment outboard instructor Andy Faulkner.

Andy retired earlier this year after 22 years of service when Maureen became seriously ill with cancer.

She died in March this year and Andy’s former colleagues in Watt Hangar, led by Warrant Officer 2 Jason ‘Shaky’ Stephen, were keen to remember her.

Andy met Maureen when he was on a run ashore in Torquay in 1962 – the pair later married in 1964.
