A PLEDGE is being made to the families of two of the area’s army regiments.

Tomorrow, the Community Covenant will be signed between Havant Borough Council and 47 and 12 Regiment Royal Artillery, based at Thorney Island.

This will signify a pledge to support the families of armed forces both past and present in the borough.

The signing of the covenant will be incorporated into Veterans Charity Awareness Day which runs at Havant’s Public Service Plaza from midday to 3pm.

Councillor Paul Buckley, the mayor of Havant, was a lieutenant commander in the Royal Navy.

He said: ‘It shows our commitment to support the service personnel who live in the borough.’
