ON June 12, 1982, British land forces were converging on Port Stanley.

The Parachute Regiment lost 23 men as they captured Mount Longdon.

Private Neil Grose, 18, of Gosport, was among those who were killed.

Meanwhile, Mount Harriet was captured by 42 Commando Royal Marines after days of observation and patrolling at night.

Later, 45 Commando took Two Sisters mountain.

Four of the commandos died capturing the hill and another four were killed in close-quarter skirmishes with Argentine troops.

The enemy lost 51 men in total on this day.
